Benefits of Institutional Membership
Institutional Membership
Institutional membership in ACTC offers faculty, students, and administrators with professional and institutional development opportunities to support core text courses and programs and the people who keep them alive in institutions all around the world.
Faculty and Administrators
ACTC hosts events that foster the creation of academic faculty and administrator networks while providing a forum for the discussion and sharing of expertise through panels, seminars, conferences, and the publication of select conference papers through its academic publishing partner Mercer University Press. These conferences are conducted domestically and internationally for academics and undergraduate students.
Faculty Resources
In addition to a robust conference schedule, ACTC offers faculty lectios (weekend conferences focused on one important book), online faculty development workshops on seminar pedagogy and primary text curricula, and administrative development workshops for administrators who oversee core programs.
Student Engagement and Opportunities
ACTC also actively engages with college students through various undergraduate specific events and programs, such as an online seminar series and opportunities to study abroad over the summer. In addition to its own annual newsletter, ACTC also provides a means for students to publish their work on an affiliated online journal of the University of Lynchburg: Agora. (I wonder if we should put the undergrads first.)
We are Expanding
In 2024, ACTC will conduct more programming, nationally and internationally, than at any other time in its 30-year history. Hundreds of students, faculty, and institutions will participate in our conferences, seminars, and an array or other online and in-person programming.
Providing Resources for Members
Through its Liberal Arts Institute, ACTC also provides institutional members with resources in the form of consultation, grants, open information, faculty development seminars, and assessment services to faculty and administrators who currently oversee or are seeking to implement core text programs for undergraduate education.
