Publications
An important part of the way we pursue ACTC’s mission is to publish the work of professional academics and students engaged core courses and programs. ACTC releases a varied range of publications, following from the wide variety of programs we support.
ACTC Publications
- Proceedings volumes: An annual volume of submitted, peer-reviewed essays based on papers presented at our Annual North American Conference. Editors and reviewers are drawn from ACTC membership, led by ACTC’s Publication Committee Chair, Tuan Hoang (Pepperdine University), and reflect the wide range of disciplines and institutions which participate in ACTC’s Annual Conference. All of our proceedings volumes are available in full on this website.
- Mercer University Press Book Series: In the Spring of 2026, Mercer University Press will publish the first volume in our new series of books based on our annual conferences. Presenters at the conference will be invited to submit expanded versions of their presentation papers for consideration. Submissions will be blind reviewed by an editorial board constituted by the Chair of ACTC’s Publications Committee, Tuan Hoang (Pepperdine). This series will supplant our “Proceedings” volumes.
- European Collected Essays volumes: ACTC has sponsored several conferences in Europe and is committed to making this a regular part of our programming. Two of these conferences have inspired collections of essays based on papers presented at those conferences, which have been published by Routledge.
- Agora: ACTC’s undergraduate journal was created at University of Lynchburg where it was published for many years. In 2024, ACTC acquired Agora. Samuel Stoner (Assumption University) serves as its editor in chief.
- ACTC also supports occasional publications. For example, Bruce Kimball’s The Liberal Arts Tradition: A Documentary History was published in collaboration and with the support of ACTC.
